The core defining question regarding all religions, is this, what do you do about this problem of sin that won’t go away.
How do we solve it, and the interesting thing about all religions is what they come up with to solve this burning question, i.e. let’s pray some prayers, let’s do some good works, let’s try really hard to live a good live…but these works fall forever short, of solving the problem….
Most religions becomes a self-help, self-improvement program, improve this, improve that, and nothing works because the core problem is not dealt with, it is a spiritual problem, and it needs a spiritual remedy, the need to get our conscience free from sin.
We can not save ourselves, and this is what most all religions try to do, save ourselves, and it can not be done, only the blood and sacrifice of Jesus can wash away our sins, and Jesus is the only religious leader that ever said that he bore our sins through His sacrifice on the cross.
This is why Christianity is not really a religion, it is a relationship with Jesus the Christ, the only Son of God, who has died for our sins, He has paid the price for our sins, and only through Him can I approach Almighty God.
Only through the blood of Jesus that washed away all sin, can I have my guilty conscience of sins removed and have peace with God Heb 8:12 (I will remember their sins no more). We can not buy your way into heaven, we can not work your way into heaven, we need the blood of Jesus, this is God’s way, only through the blood of His Son can we enter heaven.
Jesus said if we did not believe in Him, we would perish, and He explained perish to mean, eternal punishment in hell. He explained hell to us many times, and we need to take up His warnings, and avoid this eternal punishment, be accepting what Jesus did for all humans, that will accept His sacrifice and believe and trust in Him. To accept Him, say the following prayer…
Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I have sinned against You and other people, and I am sorry for all my sins and repent of them. I ask for, and receive Your forgiveness today.
Jesus, I invite You to be my Lord and Saviour of my life, and I believe in my heart that You died for the penalty of my sin on the cross and after three days You were raised from the dead and are now seated in heaven.
Lord, I ask You, to send Your Holy Spirit to fill me to overflowing even now and that You melt me, mold me, shape me into the person You want me to be….
In Jesus’s name I pray, Amen
If you prayed this prayer and meant it, then it is settled. You are now a child of God and you are in covenant with Him. This is absolutely the most important decision you will ever make, and whether you felt anything or not, you are now “reborn” as Jesus said in John 3.
This is the start of a new and exciting life. To help you along the journey, there are some things you should attempt to do almost immediately.
Find a church that teaches the Word of God and get involved, or start a home church yourself, many free books on home churches, on internet.
Find mature believers who can help you to grow, start reading the bible, start with the gospel of John in the New Testament.
Make a daily choice to live for God and honor Him through your obedience to Him and love for others.
