To overcome and be free from depression, a Christian needs to forgive others and get rid of any bitterness.

Matt 18:35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

Refusing to forgive is a sin. If we receive forgiveness from God, we must give it to others who hurt us. We cannot hold grudges or seek revenge. We are to trust God for justice and forgive the person who offended us.

That does not mean we must forget the offense, however, usually that’s beyond our power.

An unforgiving, vengeful, or bitter spirit will not only affect you and those around you, it will separate you from the blessing of God. Therefore you must forgive others no matter what the offense.

Act of the will, not from your emotions, forgiveness is not a feeling.

Complaining, and moaning and blaming God:

We all have been tempted when things get difficult to start complaining, and moaning and blaming God for not taking us out of the depression we are in.

Christian Depression ComplainingPhil 2:14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing.

We need to repent of blaming God, hold on to the guarantee of the Finished Work, and resist the devil. They will most definitely flee from us.

Grumbling and complaining are sins that can lead to further disobedience, and give the enemy a hold in our lives. In the Bible, complaining is considered an act of unbelief toward the finished work of Jesus.

When you give in to rage, self pity, or blaming others, you are making clear cut choices. It is true. When you take an offense, you are TAKING it, you are making a choice.    Deut 30:19 Choose this day, LIFE or Death.
